I have twelve years of experience writing grant applications and editing newsletters for non-profit and public organizations. I have a master’s degree from Seattle University and copyediting certificate from UC San Diego.
As a reader, I see too many basic mistakes and sloppy constructions that distract from the author’s message and weaken the rhetorical impact. At worst, these flaws discredit the writer and disrupt the reader to the point of giving up.
As an editor, I want the writer’s work to shine. I aim to maintain as much of the author’s original structure, word choice, ideas, and voice as possible. At the same time, I want the final product to be clear, precise, and worthy of the reader’s attention.
